In A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is an acutely isolated character. This isolation is partly self-inflicted through his own greed and oppression of others. However, Scrooge’s voyage with the Ghost of Christmas Past also unveils the isolating nature of Scrooge’s childhood, which may have subconsciously planted the seeds of bitterness and indignation.
