A frame narrative, on its most basic level, can essentially be defined as a ‘story within a story’. In other words, a frame narrative refers to the telling of a tale within a pre-existing tale itself. A Christmas Carol can be viewed as a frame-narrative as the novella itself is a story. Yet within this broader story, the reader is greeted with Scrooge’s voyage with the three spirits, which is a separate story in itself.
