Mrs Weston

Formerly Miss Taylor prior to her marriage to Mr Weston, she was more than just Emma’s governess, she was a loyal friend and substitute older sister. Initially, the Woodhouses mourn her marriage as a great loss, but she still remains a part of their lives. She is Emma’s close confidant throughout the novel, giving her news of Frank (her son-in-law) and making guesses about Mr Knightley’s feelings for Jane.
