Whilst not explicitly a feminist text, there are components of Frankenstein that certainly have a feminist leaning. In an effort to criticise the patriarchal society of the 19th century, Shelley conveys a realistic depiction of the role of women in that time, which is to say that they play a very minimal role in the development of the narrative.
