Authorial intent

The structure, themes, characters, and plot have all been created as the author intended, and that is why each of them are important – because they have been chosen for a reason! It is through all of these features that the author tries to communicate to their audience a certain idea, and when analysing a novel we have to find that idea represented through every aspect of the novel.
