Macbeth

Banquo, thane to King Duncan of Scotland and companion to Macbeth, is among the play’s most important characters. Noble, honest, and wary, Banquo is one of the play’s purely good characters and his death is a turning point the play in both plot and theme. Much like Duncan, it is only after his death that Banquo’s impact is felt throughout the play, as the ghost of his memory and his physical manifestation haunt Macbeth.
