Miss Lucy

Miss Lucy was a guardian of Hailsham, who acted as both a teacher and caregiver for the students. After working as a guardian for several months, she inexplicably and abruptly leaves, which concerns Tommy and Kathy who had grown to become somewhat fond of her. It is later revealed that the reason Miss Lucy was dismissed from Hailsham was due to a conflict of views between her and her fellow guardians. Miss Lucy does not believe that the students should be sheltered, particularly from what their intended purpose is. She believes that the students should be told exactly what awaits them, as this will best prepare them for their lives as carers and donors.
