Character Analysis

Richard III is one of Shakespeare’s history plays, so the characters are based on real life historical figures. As mentioned in the Background Information, it is highly useful to familiarise yourself with the Wars of the Roses and other historical information so that you know who everybody is. By understanding the past things that happened before the events of the play as well as who is from which house, your study of character motivations will be made that much easier!
