Lady Montague is Montague’s wife and is presented as a meek and peaceful lady who tries in vain to prevent her husband from engaging in any fighting. She is constantly concerned about her son Romeo’s welfare and wishes strongly that he does not take part in the fighting associated with the Montague Capulet feud. When the characters convene at the Capulet tomb, it is revealed that since Romeo’s exile from Verona, Lady Montague has died from grief.
