Throughout the play the dominant points of view are those of the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. During the first half of the play, we mostly follow Romeo’s voice and thoughts as he pines over Rosaline until he sees Juliet for the first time and all is forgotten. The play continues with Romeo’s point of view as he works with Friar Lawrence and to an extent Juliet’s Nurse in order to make their wedding and their wedding night possible.
