- Mineral ions are essential for plant health, with deficiencies leading to issues like chlorosis, where leaves turn yellow or orange.
- Some plants, like the pitcher plant, have adapted to low mineral ion environments by becoming carnivorous, deriving necessary minerals from digested insects.
