DNA Nucleotides & Bases
- DNA is a polymer composed of many repeating nucleotide units.
- A nucleotide, which is a monomer, consists of a sugar, a phosphate group, and a base.
- There are four different bases in DNA, which can be referred to by their initial letters: A (adenine), T (thiamine), G (guanine), C (cytokine).
- The DNA structure features a backbone made of alternating sugar and phosphate sections, with each sugar having one of the four bases attached.
- Diagrams of DNA structure may be used in exams for interpretation, but reproduction of the structure is not required.
