- Examples of biotic factors include:
- Decreased food availability leading to reduced population sizes.
- Increased food availability resulting in population growth.
- Arrival of new predators causing a decline in prey populations.
- Decrease in predator numbers leading to an increase in prey populations.
- Introduction of new pathogens (e.g., viruses, bacteria) resulting in decreased population sizes.
- Competition where one species outcompetes another, leading to a decline in the less successful species.
