Kidney Transplants
- A kidney transplant involves replacing a damaged kidney with one from an organ donor.
- The procedure includes removing a kidney from a donor and transplanting it into a recipient.
- Kidneys for transplantation can come from living donors or deceased individuals.
- Humans have two kidneys, allowing a donor to give one while retaining the other for blood filtration.
- Living donors typically continue life normally with minimal or no health issues after donating one kidney.
