Phenotype
- Phenotype refers to the physical characteristics of an organism.
- Examples of phenotypes include brown eyes, hair color, skin color, blood type, and hormone levels.
- Phenotype starts with "ph" which can help remember it relates to physical characteristics.
- Phenotype is determined by the genotype, which consists of alleles.
- Environmental factors can also influence phenotype.
- Example: A person's height is influenced by their genetic makeup (genotype) and can be affected by environmental conditions like nutrition.
- Understanding the difference between genotype and phenotype is crucial for exams.
