Classification
- Classification organizes organisms into groups based on their structure and characteristics.
- Organisms can be classified in multiple ways, such as by color.
- In the example provided, organisms are categorized into animals and plants.
- The Ian classification system organizes life into hierarchical groups starting with the largest group, the kingdom.
- There are five kingdoms as per this classification system.
- After the kingdom, organisms are further classified into phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
- A mnemonic to remember these categories is "king penguins climb over frozen grassy slopes," representing kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
