  • Bitmap images are made of pixels, and each pixel has a binary colour code or colour value.
  • Important terms:
    • Colour depth: bits used per pixel (more bits = more colours) 
    • Resolution: number of pixels (width × height)
    • Metadata: info stored with image (e.g. dimensions, colour depth, file format, author/creator, camera details)
