Stave 5: The End of It

Scrooge finds himself returned to his bedroom, thankful that the frightful future predicted by the third spirit has not occurred after all. Scrooge sings praise of a Merry Christmas as he frantically gets dressed. He calls out through his window to a boy walking on the street, promising to pay him half-a-crown if he hurries to the local poulterer to purchase the prize turkey hanging in the shop window. Scrooge resolves that he will send the turkey to the Cratchit household anonymously.
