Chapter 6

“All that year the animals worked like slaves.” Orwell’s simile is ironic in the fact that the animals believe that they work like slaves. However, the reality is that the animals are slaves, but are too naïve to believe otherwise. Their steadfast belief in the system allows them to be manipulated by the pigs, as we have seen multiple times in the previous chapters.
