Doppelgangers

A doppelganger is a device used in literature to reflect the base and immoral aspects of an individual, through having two characters who seemingly appear as  doubles of one another. It was a common trope used in 19th century Gothic literature. In Frankenstein, there are two key types of doppelganger:
