Miss Temple is one of the first adults to ever believe in and trust Jane, who was previously branded as a deceitful child. Miss Temple is the one who clears Jane’s name when she is slandered at Lowood, and this kind act results in Jane being able to flourish. Jane states that she only stayed at Lowood so long to stay in companionship with Miss Temple, only leaving when Miss Temple gets married and retires from her position at Lowood. She reinforces Jane’s belief in adults and is a positive role model for her.
