Character Analysis

Dixon

Dixon is the Hales’ devout servant. She treasures Mrs Hale and Frederick above all, committed to their care first of all. Dixon’s stout pride ensures that she often clashes with the bull-headed Margaret, but she holds a softness toward her. On the other hand, Dixon absolutely despises Mr Hale, not believing him good enough for her mistress. She is an aristocrat at heart and is rather snobbish, which is likely the influence of Mrs Hale. She is as unhappy as anybody to have to move to Milton, finding it to be another reason to hate Mr Hale.
