Verse

Most of Othello is written in blank verse, which includes unrhymed iambic pentameter. Iambic pentameter includes five stressed and five unstressed syllables per line, thus giving it a steady rhythm, to connote a very steadfast and noble character. When someone speaks in verse, it is very poetic and deemed especially potent when used in cases of highly dramatic and emotionally intense events. It is of a very steady pace and highly controlled. For example, consider the following quote spoken by Othello in Act 1 Scene 3:
