Character Analysis

Sampson

Sampson is one of the Capulet servants who has a great taste for puns and a definite and obvious liking for women. He incites Gregory to start a brawl with the Montague servants, while looking after his own interests making sure that he is on the right side of the law by not being seen as involved in the brawl or to have started it. He bites his thumb at the Montagues, a rude gesture, putting the Montagues in an impossible situation, before leading them to the area where they should fight.
