  • Cellular respiration is an exothermic reaction as it releases energy. It continuously occurs in living cells to provide the energy needed for living processes. It is aerobic meaning it uses oxygen. Energy is released from glucose by completely oxidising it.
  • Word equation: glucose + oxygen \(\longrightarrow\) carbon dioxide + water
  • Symbol equation: \(\text{C}_6\text{H}_{12}\text{O}_2\longrightarrow 6\text{CO}_2 + 6\text{H}_2\text{O}\)
