VOCABULARY
  • Form: depuis + time expression or starting point (i.e. for / since)
  • Use: indicates an action or situation that began in the past and is still continuing (with present tense), or describes a past ongoing situation at a certain point (with imperfect tense)
  • Examples:
    • Present tense ‘for’: Je travaille ici depuis 3 ans. (I have been working here for 3 years.)
    • Present tense ‘since’: J’habite ici depuis 2010. (I have lived here since 2010.)
    • Imperfect tense: Je travaillais ici depuis 3 ans quand... (I had been working here for 3 years when...)
