Angles Around a Point

1:40 apply the properties of angles at a point, angles at a point on a straight line, vertically opposite angles; understand and use alternate and corresponding angles on parallel lines; derive and use the sum of angles in a triangle (e.g. to deduce and use the angle sum in any polygon, and to derive properties of regular polygons)
Spec G3
  • There are 360 degrees around a point
  • Degrees are defined so that there's 360 degrees in a circle
  • To calculate the unknown angle that completes the circle, add the given angles together
  • Subtract the sum of the given angles from 360 degrees to find the missing angle
  • In the example, the missing angle is 145 degrees
