Loudspeakers (HT ONLY)

  • A loudspeaker or pair of headphones generates sound waves using the motor effect where an alternating current flows through a coil in a magnetic field, causing the coil and magnet to experience a force.
  • The coil pulls on a cone, which generates vibrations in the air as a sound wave.
  • Variations in the frequency and size of the current change the motion of the cone, creating different sound waves.
