Each character in Othello undergoes a series of changes and that shape the way in which they interact with one another. What is particularly important to note is their changes in emotions and perception. Othello’s plot is grounded upon the extreme and powerful emotions the characters feel – predominantly jealousy and anger, but also love and insecurity. Despite the political and social context being vastly different between the Elizabethan era and our 21st century society, these emotions are still universal and contribute to the play’s ongoing resonance and relevance.
