6:36 plot graphs of equations that correspond to straight-line graphs in the coordinate plane; use the form y = mx + c to identify parallel lines; find the equation of the line through two given points, or through one point with a given gradient; use the form y = mx + c to identify perpendicular lines

  • Straight line graphs can be plotted using a table of values
  • The equation y = mx + c represents a straight line with a gradient of m and a y intercept of c
  • To plot the equation, create a table of values with x values and corresponding y values
  • Use at least three points to plot the graph, but it's best to use more for accuracy
  • Make sure the line extends across the whole width of the graph
  • Label the axis as X and Y and draw arrows on the ends
  • To plot the graph without writing out the points, start at the y intercept and move according to the gradient (1 along, 1 up) to get a series of points for the line
