Adding & Subtracting Fractions
- Fractions can be added together when their denominators are the same
- To add fractions with different denominators, find the lowest common multiple of the denominators
- Multiply the numerators and denominators by the same number to make the denominators the same
- Add the numerators and keep the denominator the same
- Simplify the fraction if possible by dividing the numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor
- The same principles apply for subtracting fractions with different denominators
