Adding to a Negative Number
- When adding to a negative number, the result can be positive or negative
- To work out the answer, draw a number line
- Determine whether to move left or right
- Perform the operation by moving on the number line
- Negative 2 plus 4 equals positive 2
- Negative 5 plus 4 equals negative 1
