Bar & Vertical Line Charts
- A bar chart displays the frequencies of discrete categorical data as vertical bars
- The categories are shown on the horizontal axis and the frequencies on the vertical axis
- Horizontal lines can be drawn to determine the frequency of a specific category
- Bar charts can be used to compare frequencies between different data sets
- Bar charts can be drawn side by side or on top of each other to compare data sets
- Vertical line charts are similar to bar charts but use vertical lines instead of bars
- Vertical line charts are used for discrete numerical data
- Line charts allow us to see the distribution of data and identify patterns
