  • Brackets are used to group numbers and operators together
  • Brackets are always written in pairs
  • Operations inside brackets should be performed first
  • Putting brackets around different numbers can result in different answers
  • Example: 5 times 2 plus 4 times 3 equals 22
  • Square brackets behave the same as round brackets
  • Using a combination of round and square brackets can help with complex expressions
