Calculating Gradients
- The gradient of a line is a measure of its steepness
- The gradient is equal to the change in the y direction divided by the change in the x direction
- The gradient can be calculated using the formula y2 minus y1 over x2 minus x1
- Two points on the line need to be selected to calculate the gradient
- The choice of which points to select is arbitrary
- The gradient can be simplified to a numerical value
- A positive gradient indicates that the line goes up as we move from left to right
- A negative gradient indicates that the line goes down as we move from left to right
