Factorising Single Brackets
- Factorization is the opposite process to expanding brackets
- Factorization involves finding a factor that can go in front of a bracket to create an equivalent expression
- The highest common factor (HCF) is used in factorization
- Factorization can be checked by expanding the bracket back out to get the original expression
- Sometimes the HCF includes letters
- An identity is when two expressions are always equal to each other regardless of the values of the variables
- Example: Factorize 12t minus 4m
- Example: Factorize 3a plus 6ab plus 9a squared
