Front & Side Elevations
- A front elevation is a view from the front of an object
- A side elevation is a view from the side of an object
- The names of the views (front and side) are arbitrary as long as they are different from each other
- An arrow is used to show the direction from which the shape is being viewed
- The shape is labeled to indicate which view is the front and which view is the side
- The visible parts of the shape in the front view are determined by the arrow
- Unknown lengths of the shape can be calculated by splitting it into different sections
- The front elevation can be drawn to scale on a grid, with each square representing one centimeter
- The height and width of the shape are measured in centimeters and represented on the grid
- The front and side elevations of a 3D shape can be determined given an image and a viewing direction.
