Highest Common Factor
- A common factor of two numbers is a number that appears in both of their lists of factors
- The highest common factor (HCF) of two numbers is the largest number that is a factor of both numbers
- The HCF is often abbreviated as HCF
- The HCF can also be found for three or more numbers
- Finding the HCF can be useful when simplifying fractions
- Dividing both the numerator and denominator of a fraction by their HCF will simplify the fraction completely
