- Algebraic fractions involve algebraic symbols
- Simplifying algebraic fractions is similar to simplifying normal fractions
- To simplify, divide the numerator and denominator by their highest common factor (HCF)
- Example: Simplify 4m^2/2m by dividing by 2m
- Example: Simplify 5y^4/10y^2 by dividing by 5y^2
- Example: Simplify -3xy^3/9x^2y^2 by dividing by 3xy^2
- The fully simplified form of an algebraic fraction is obtained by dividing the numerator and denominator by their HCF
