- A transformation is a way of changing the size, position, or orientation of a shape
- Size change and position change are examples of transformations
- Orientation change refers to the specific arrangement of a shape
- Reflections and rotations are examples of orientation changes and transformations
- Anything that changes the shape altogether is not a transformation
- An object is a shape being transformed
- An image is the result of a transformation on an object
- The effects of transformations can be understood by comparing the coordinates of vertices of the object and image
- A coordinate grid is often used to plot transformations
- By comparing the coordinates of corresponding vertices, the transformation can be determined
