  • A number to the power of zero is always equal to one
  • A number to the power of one is always equal to itself
  • 1 to the power of any number is always equal to 1
  • 0 to the power of any number is 0 unless the power is 0 or negative
  • Zero to the power of x is only equal to zero for x greater than zero
  • A number to the power of 2 is called squaring
  • A number to the power of 3 is called cubing
  • Some common square numbers are 5 squared (25) and 15 squared (225)
  • Some common cube numbers are 5 cubed (125) and 10 cubed (1000)
  • Some larger powers include 5 to the power of 4 (625) and 5 to the power of 5 (3125)
