Long Addition
- Long addition is used to add numbers with multiple digits
- Step 1: Identify the value of each digit in both numbers
- Step 2: Write out the calculation in column format
- Step 3: Add up the units column
- Step 4: Add up the tens column
- Step 5: Add up the hundreds column to get the final answer
- Carry over any numbers that exceed 9 in a column to the next column
- Example 1: 23 + 11 = 34
- Example 2: 112 + 30 = 142
- Example 3: 179 + 153 = 332
