Long Division
- Long division is useful when dividing a number by more than one digit
- Long division is similar to short division, but laid out differently
- The dividend is the number being divided, the divisor is the number being divided by
- Step 1: Set up the division with the dividend under the division symbol and the divisor on the outside
- Step 2: Write how many times the divisor goes into the first two digits of the dividend
- Step 3: Subtract to get the remainder
- Step 4: Bring down the next digit to join the remainder
- Step 5: Write how many times the divisor goes into the new number
- Step 6: Subtract to get the remainder
- If there is a non-zero remainder, it is included in the answer as "remainder [number]"
- The same process applies to long division with larger numbers
