Mode
- The mode is a measure of central tendency that represents the data value that appears most often in a data set.
- It is used to describe a typical value from a set of data.
- The mode may not be a good measure of central tendency if there are multiple modes with widely different values.
- The mode is still useful if the data set has many values reasonably close to the measures of central tendency.
- The mode can be found for both qualitative and quantitative data.
- In qualitative data, the mode is determined by the frequency of occurrence of different categories.
- Statistical diagrams such as pie charts, pictograms, and bar charts make it easy to identify the mode.
- In a frequency table, the mode is the data value with the greatest frequency.
- For grouped data, the modal class is the class with the highest frequency.
