Multiplying Fractions
- Multiplying two fractions: multiply the numerators, then the denominators
- Example: 2/5 times 3/7 = 6/35
- Cross cancellation: cancel common factors to simplify the fraction
- Example: 3/5 times 10/3 = 2/1 or 2
- Mixed numbers should be converted to improper fractions before multiplying
- Example: 1 1/2 times 5 1/3 = 8/1 or 8
