  • Multiplying two fractions: multiply the numerators, then the denominators
  • Example: 2/5 times 3/7 = 6/35
  • Cross cancellation: cancel common factors to simplify the fraction
  • Example: 3/5 times 10/3 = 2/1 or 2
  • Mixed numbers should be converted to improper fractions before multiplying
  • Example: 1 1/2 times 5 1/3 = 8/1 or 8
