Parallel Linear Graphs
- Parallel lines have the same gradient
- The equation y = x has a gradient of 1 and a y intercept of 0
- The equation y = x - 2 has a gradient of 1 and a y intercept of -2
- The equation y = x + 2 has a gradient of 1 and a y intercept of 2
- All three equations have the same coefficient of x, 1
- Parallel lines will never meet and will remain the same distance away from each other along the whole line
- To find the equation of a line parallel to a given line, find the gradient and y intercept of the given line and substitute those values into the equation of the parallel line
