Percentage of a Value

4:21 Using Percentages
Spec N12
  • A percentage is a way of describing a proportion of a number
  • To find a percentage of a value, you can multiply the value by the percentage and divide by 100
  • Alternatively, you can convert the percentage to a fraction and multiply it by the value
  • Both methods are useful, but the non-fraction method is usually easier
  • Example: 60% of 15 is 9
  • Example: 54% of 250 is 135
  • Example: 175% of 0.8 is 1.4 meters
