Perpendicular Line Bisector
- A perpendicular line bisector is a straight line that intersects another line at right angles
- It forms two smaller lines of equal size that meet at 90 degrees
- The vertical line is the perpendicular line bisector of the horizontal line
- To construct a perpendicular bisector using compasses, draw two arcs over halfway across the line from each end
- The arcs will intersect in two places
- Use a ruler to draw a straight line between the points of intersection of the arcs
- This will give the perpendicular bisector of the original line, forming a right angle and splitting the line into two equal smaller lines
- To verify that the lines are perpendicular, a protractor can be used to measure the angle between the two lines and check if it is 90 degrees.
