  • A polygon is a 2D shape with 3 or more straight sides
  • The name of a polygon is determined by the number of sides it has
  • General polygons are named based on the number of sides, regardless of other properties
  • Examples of named polygons include triangle (3 sides), quadrilateral (4 sides), pentagon (5 sides), hexagon (6 sides), heptagon (7 sides), octagon (8 sides), nonagon (9 sides)
  • There is no limit to the number of sides a polygon can have
  • A regular polygon has equal sides and equal angles
  • Examples of regular polygons include equilateral triangle, square, regular pentagon
