Prisms & Cylinders
- A prism is a solid shape with a constant cross section
- The base of a prism can be any polygon with three or more sides
- A prism has the same base polygon at both ends and is joined by straight parallel edges
- A cross section of a prism is the same as the base polygon at either end
- A prism is named after the shape of its cross section
- A cylinder is a solid shape with a circular cross section
- Cylinders are treated as prisms in GCSE, even though technically they are not
